Hardware / Embedded Systems Intern – AI Test & Integration

Team: Autonomy, Hardware & AI Systems

About Us

USAvionix is building autonomous aircraft designed to operate in real-world missions. Our Delta platform combines autonomy, onboard compute, and high-speed flight hardware. We move quickly from idea to test to iteration, with a strong bias toward systems that actually work outside the lab.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Hardware or Embedded Systems Intern to support AI system bring-up, testing, and integration across the Delta platform.

This is a hands-on role focused on building and validating real systems. You will work with Raspberry Pi based platforms, cameras, and AI accelerators to help bring up test setups for Delta AI and Phalanx AI modules.

You will not be training models or building perception algorithms from scratch. You will be helping make sure the hardware and software stack runs reliably and is easy to test and iterate on.

What You’ll Do

  • Bring up and configure Raspberry Pi based systems
  • Integrate cameras and basic capture pipelines
  • Build and maintain AI test harnesses and bench setups
  • Support testing of Delta AI and Phalanx AI modules
  • Document setup steps, configurations, and test procedures
  • Assist in debugging basic integration and stability issues

What You Should Have

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or similar
  • Comfort working with Linux based systems
  • Experience or interest in embedded systems or robotics
  • Familiarity with Python or C++
  • Willingness to debug and learn through hands-on testing

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Raspberry Pi or similar SBCs
  • Camera or sensor integration experience
  • Exposure to robotics, autonomy, or AI systems
  • Experience with basic electronics and wiring

Who You Are

You like making systems work. You’re comfortable when things are half-built and messy. You enjoy bringing hardware and software together and learning by doing.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Real exposure to AI and autonomous systems
  • Hands-on ownership of test and integration work
  • Tight feedback loop from bench testing to flight systems
  • Opportunity to grow into deeper technical ownership over time
